RINO GAETANO’S LEGACY RETURNS TO HOLLYWOOD: “RINO GAETANO – SEMPRE PIÙ BLU” CELEBRATES THE ICONIC ITALIAN SONGWRITER AT LA, ITALIA – FILM, FASHION AND ART FESTIVAL

LOS ANGELES — The documentary “Rino Gaetano – Sempre più blu,” directed by Giorgio Verdelli, was presented in Hollywood during the 21st edition of LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, bringing to international audiences the story of one of the most original and beloved voices in Italian music.

Through rare archival footage, interviews and musical performances, the film retraces the life and artistic journey of Rino Gaetano, the singer-songwriter who transformed Italian songwriting with his unmistakable blend of irony, poetry and social commentary. His songs, often playful on the surface but deeply critical beneath, captured the contradictions of Italian society during the 1970s and continue to resonate with new generations of listeners.

The documentary explores the cultural impact of timeless songs such as “Ma il cielo è sempre più blu,” “Gianna,” and “A mano a mano,” highlighting Gaetano’s unique ability to mix surreal imagery, satire and emotional sincerity. Through testimonies from musicians, collaborators and cultural figures, the film reconstructs the portrait of an artist whose creativity went far beyond conventional songwriting.

Presented in Los Angeles as part of the program of LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, the documentary celebrates Gaetano’s enduring influence on Italian music and culture, introducing his legacy to international audiences during the week leading up to the Academy Awards.

Founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival is promoted by the Istituto Capri nel Mondo with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, KPMG and Rainbow, and with the participation of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.
