L.A. ITALIA 2026 PRESENTED “SANDOKAN” AND ITALIAN TV EXCELLENCE IN HOLLYWOOD, CELEBRATING THE NEW WAVE OF TRICOLOR DRAMA ON THE GLOBAL STAGE

“Sandokan: The Pirate Prince” was the flagship title among Italian television dramas presented in Hollywood at the 21st edition of LA Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, which from March 8 also turned the spotlight on national series in collaboration with Rai Fiction.

The program included titles such as “Franco Battiato, The Long Journey” by Renato De Maria, “Rosso Volante” by Alessandro Angelini, and “Guerrieri” directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli.

The international series “Sandokan: The Pirate Prince” had its Hollywood showcase with a special screening on the festival’s opening day at the TCL Chinese Theatre, a true temple of world cinema. Produced by Lux Vide, part of the Fremantle group, in collaboration with Rai Fiction, the series is directed by Jan Maria Michelini (“Devils”) and Nicola Abbatangelo (“Doc”). The lead role is played by Can Yaman, alongside Alanah Bloor, Ed Westwick, Alessandro Preziosi, and John Hannah.

Founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, the LA Italia Festival is organized with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) and under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, KPMG, and Rainbow, with the participation of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.

Among the other screenings announced were the U.S. premiere of “Anna”, directed by and starring Monica Guerritore, and special presentations of the Italian box-office comedy hits “Buen Camino,” “Oi Vita Mia,” and “La Vita Va Così.”

Tributes also included a celebration of Bernardo Bertolucci on the 50th anniversary of “Novecento,” an homage to musician and producer Tony Renis, and recognition of Rainbow Studios, founded by Iginio Straffi, marking thirty years of global success.
