Biennale Cinema 2025 | My Father and Qaddafi

LOS ANGELES — The documentary “My Father and Qaddafi” was presented today in Hollywood during the 21st edition of LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, bringing to the international stage a powerful and deeply personal story intertwined with one of the most controversial political figures of the modern era: Muammar Qaddafi.

The film explores an extraordinary and intimate narrative that connects a private family history with the broader geopolitical events surrounding the long rule of the former Libyan leader. Through personal testimonies, archival material and investigative reconstruction, the documentary reveals how the life of one man — and his family — became unexpectedly linked to the complex world of international politics.

At the heart of “My Father and Qaddafi” lies a reflection on identity, memory and the lasting impact of political power on individual lives. By combining personal storytelling with historical context, the film sheds light on little-known aspects of a relationship that moves between private experience and global history.

The screening at LA, Italia 2026 forms part of the festival’s program dedicated to international documentaries and stories with strong social and historical relevance, offering audiences in Hollywood the opportunity to engage with cinema that investigates reality and the human stories hidden behind major political events.

Founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival is promoted by the Istituto Capri nel Mondo with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, KPMG and Rainbow, and with the participation of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.
