MINDEMIC director Giovanni Basso ‘s debut feature starring Giorgio Colangeli, began a long tour of Italian theaters that continues to this day. Surpassing forty events attended by the director and Colangeli, the film also recently landed in the U.S., at the historic Italian film festival Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Fest. This was the film’s international premiere on March 7 at the prestigious TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, just days before the Oscars 2023 ceremony. At the event, director Basso and Colangeli were greeted by a warm audience. “With Giorgio, we have visited so many theaters all over Italy,” said Basso, “and to also come here to Los Angeles for the first screening outside the national borders was special. He continued, “The audience loved the film and Colangeli’s performance, it was really exciting. For Giorgio, by the way, it was his first trip to the US.”
Colangelo stated “Yes, it had never happened to me to come to the United States before. So I could not refuse the invitation to this beautiful review in an iconic cinema. I am happy to have come and met the American audience, for whom I have always had a great curiosity.” MINDEMIC is now in competition for the David di Donatello 2023 awards, while last December it received three Golden Ciak nominations, including best first-time director and best actor for Colangeli.
