In the Milan of the economic boom, Maria Boccuzzi – aka Marinella – is a young Calabrian in search of redemption. At just 16 years old, she runs away from home for love, but that choice leads her down a path of solitude, marginalization and broken dreams. Abandoned and without ties, she ends up in prostitution, continuing to pursue her desire to become a dancer.
