
LOS ANGELES — The documentary directed by Tamara Pizzoli was presented in Hollywood during the 21st edition of LA, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, bringing to the international stage a unique and deeply personal exploration of life in Rome through the voices of Black women who chose the Eternal City as their home.
Written and directed by Tamara Pizzoli, who also appears in the film, the documentary gathers the testimonies of women from different countries and backgrounds who have built their lives in one of the world’s most iconic cities. Through personal stories, reflections and lived experiences, the film reveals a perspective rarely seen by visitors and tourists.
Featuring Tamara Pizzoli, Iris Peynado, Victoria Ericks, Madya Diebate and Joyce Oyakhire, the documentary explores a wide range of themes including dating, motherhood, marriage, professional life and the challenges of racism, offering an intimate and honest portrait of identity and belonging in contemporary Rome.
Edited by James Maiki and produced by Tamara Pizzoli and Iris Peynado, the film goes beyond the romanticized image of the Eternal City, revealing the complex social dynamics that shape everyday life for women navigating culture, race and opportunity in modern Italy.
The presentation at LA, Italia 2026 once again highlighted the festival’s commitment to showcasing documentaries that expand cultural perspectives and bring diverse voices to the international stage, offering Hollywood audiences a powerful reflection on identity, migration and the realities behind the postcard image of Rome.
