LOS ANGELES, April 18 – Directors Edoardo Ponti (“The Life Ahead”) and Filippo Meneghetti (“Two of us,”) will be assigned the “L.A. Italia Excellence Award” at the 16th edition of the Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, the prominent and sought-after showcase of Italian culture traditionally preceding the Oscars. This year the festival is scheduled from April 18 to 24.
“These two Italian world renowned filmmakers incarnate the quintessential Italian excellence rich with outstanding creativity and sensitivity. Their artistic talent transcends all geographic boundaries” – declared Marina Cicogna for L.A., Italia.
Ponti’s movie “The Life Ahead” starring the director’s mother Sophia Loren, has recently earned a Golden Globe to Laura Pausini, Diane Warren and Niccolò Agliardi for the original song “Io sì (Seen).” written with Diane Warren and Niccolò’ Agliardi.
“Two of us,” the directorial feature film debut for Meneghetti, an Italian director with an international background, is running for the Academy Awards; the French movie has been shortlisted in the category Best Foreign Film.
Los Angeles, Italia 2021 is dedicated to the late Maestro Ennio Morricone, who was awarded by the Festival in 2007 and who, in 2016, received a well-deserved star on the Walk of Fame by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The tribute to Morricone will open the section “The Italian Masters” in the forthcoming edition of the much anticipated festival.
La Italia is an Italian film and audiovisual happening produced by Pascal Vicedomini and promoted by the Institute Capri in the world; the event establishes an ideal bridge with the festival Capri, Hollywood that last December celebrated a quarter of century and honored Sophia Loren for her amazing performance in “The Life Ahead.”
Los Angeles, Italia enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture (Direction General Cinema and Audiovisual) as well as the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo, Rai Cinema, Rai Com, Rainbow, Medusa, Iervolino Entertainment and Isaia, The Italian Consulate General, Ice and the Italian Institute of Culture.
