THE 21ST EDITION OF LA, ITALIA CLOSED CELEBRATING THE FIFA WORLD CUP: IN HOLLYWOOD THE FILM ON USA ’94 AND THE ROAD TO 2026

NAPLES, FEB 14 – The special screening of Two Billion Hearts, the film recounting the historic USA ’94 FIFA World Cup (narrated by actor Liev Schreiber), will close on Saturday, March 14 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood the 21st edition of Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival. The traditional Italian event held on the eve of the Oscars and promoted by the Istituto Capri nel Mondo. The screening pays tribute to one of the most iconic editions of the FIFA World Cup, symbolically anticipating the 2026 tournament, which for the first time in history will be a “shared” World Cup hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, LA, Italia is promoted with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the MIMIT and the MIT, and carried out in collaboration with institutional and industrial partners including Intesa Sanpaolo, Rainbow and Givova. The festival’s Chairperson is Raffaella De Laurentiis, while the President is Filippo Puglisi Alibrandi.

“It is with joy, but also with a sense of emotion, that we will watch this film, which also featured Arrigo Sacchi’s Italian national team, who reached the Pasadena final after an impeccable tournament, unfortunately losing on penalties to Brazil. I was personally there as a Rai correspondent for Gianni Minà’s program and I retain a vivid memory of the enthusiasm generated by Roberto Baggio and the entire squad. With this screening, we also hope that today’s Azzurri, led by Rino Gattuso, will achieve the important goal of qualifying for the World Cup, thinking of the many Italians living across the United States, Canada and Mexico who are eager to support our national team,” Vicedomini concluded.

LOS ANGELES, 15 FEB. – The film capturing the memorable 1993 concert by Renzo Arbore and his Orchestra Italiana at New York’s Radio City Music Hall will be featured in the rich program of the 21st edition of L.A., Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival, bringing to Hollywood the electrifying atmosphere of a night that made history—also thanks to the extraordinary managerial vision of Adriano Aragozzini, whose work proved decisive in shaping and expanding the project on an international scale.

The screening is set for March 12 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood: a landmark concert that marked the beginning of Arbore and the Orchestra Italiana’s highly successful U.S. touring era. That New York engagement became the first chapter in a journey that carried Neapolitan music and the broader Italian tradition into the most prestigious theaters across the United States—except for those on the West Coast, where the beloved showman and his musicians never performed, despite the region’s longstanding and vibrant Italian-American community, particularly of Campanian origin.

An absence Arbore himself recalls with regret: “We were constantly touring across the U.S. and around the world, and somehow we never managed to perform there. Looking back, I regret it,” Arbore said in a recent phone interview.

The Hollywood screening of the Radio City Music Hall concert thus takes on powerful symbolic value: it represents an ideal arrival on the West Coast of a musical journey that began more than thirty years ago, celebrating a historic chapter of Italian music on the global stage.

Promoted with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the MIMIT and the MIT, L.A., Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival 2026 is presented in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, Rainbow, and Givova. The festival’s Chairperson is Raffaella De Laurentiis, while Filippo Puglisi Alibrandi serves as President.

Among the additional highlights announced by producer Pascal Vicedomini are the U.S. premiere of “Anna,” written, directed and starring Monica Guerritore; special screenings of the year’s Italian box-office hits including “Buen Camino” starring Checco Zalone, “Oi vita” written and performed by Pio e Amedeo, and “La vita va così” by Riccardo Milani; as well as “Two Billion Hearts,” dedicated to the historic FIFA World Cup USA ’94 final, symbolically anticipating the expanded 2026 World Cup.

The 21st edition of the Los Angeles Italia Festival will take place from March 8 to 14, on the eve of the Academy Awards, once again bringing the very best of Italian cinema, culture and creativity to the heart of Hollywood. Founded by Pascal Vicedomini and currently chaired by Raffaella De Laurentiis, the festival stands as one of the most influential international platforms for the promotion of Made in Italy in the global film and cultural industries. Among its historic founding members are the late Marina Cicogna, alongside Franco Nero and Tony Renis, reaffirming the festival’s deep roots in Italian and international cinema.

For many years, the great Lina Wertmüller was the guiding light of the festival, symbolizing its strong artistic identity and international prestige. Pascal Vicedomini has often emphasized how Los Angeles Italia represents the closing of a vital circle, connecting the finest Italian talents with Hollywood at the most crucial moment of the cinematic year. LOS ANGELES, Feb 25 – British actor Ralph Fiennes, Italian Actor Sergio Castellitto and director Edward Berger were feted last night with several LA, Italia Awards for ‘Conclave’ including Best Movie, Best Actor and Best Director of the Year. The ceremony was held at the Hollywood Chinese Theater.
Fiennes, who led Sergio Castellitto and Isabella Rossellini to victory at the SAG Awards last Sunday after winning the BAFTA, expressed all his deep love for Italy and gratitute to Italian cinema workers in Cinecittà’.
“We are delighted to honor a true cinema legend like Ralph Fiennes, who has given extraordinary depth to Cardinal Lawrence in a film that has already become a cult classic in cinema history,” said Pascal Vicedomini, founder and producer of LA, ITALIA. “And even more to express our admiration to a young master of Cinema, such as Edward Berger, and it threw giant of the Italian Cinema, Sergio Castellitto” said Pascal.
The most anticipated Italian-themed event worldwide is promoted with the support of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and under the patronage of Maeci, Mimit, and Mit, along with the Italian system on the West Coast (Consulate General, Italian Cultural Institute, Ice, and Enit), with the participation of Scabec, Riflessi – Made in Italy, Givova, Rainbow, Studios, and Adamantis Europe Ltd.
LA, ITALIA 2025 was inaugurated on Sunday by Consul General Raffaella Valentini and Beverly Hills Deputy Mayor Sharona Nazarian, with the U.S. premiere of L’orto americano by Pupi Avati. The event was attended by the Oscar-winning screenwriter Nick Vallelonga, festival presidents Franco Nero and Raffaella De Laurentiis, actors Jack Huston, Frank Grillo, and Joe Cortese, as well as Oscar-winning composer Diane Warren.

Friday Feb 28th, the Nominee Gala at the Italian Institute of Culture. Expecting the Oscars’ Gala.

American painter and filmmaker Julian Schnabel has been honored with the ‘LA, Italia – Marina Cicogna Award,’ in tribute to the late Oscar-winning producer Marina Cicogna. She was one of the pioneers of the Italian Film Festival on the eve of the Oscars, alongside Lina Wertmüller, Franco Nero, Tony Renis, and festival founder Pascal Vicedomini.

Franco Nero himself will present the award to the extraordinary New York artist (whose latest film In The Hand of Dante is highly anticipated this year) during the classic Nominee Gala on Friday, February 28, at the Italian Cultural Institute. Many other key figures of the Italian showcase in Hollywood (organized by the Capri Institute with MiC and Intesa Sanpaolo, along with Adamantis Europe Ltd, Enit, Scabec, Givova, and Riflessi) will also attend. Among them are Cynthia Sleiter (Academy Award nominee for the production design of Conclave), director Mauro Borrelli (creator of the highly anticipated The Last Supper, which will close the 20th LA, Italia festival on Saturday afternoon), composer Fabrizio Mancinelli (who scored Anuja, nominated for Best Live Action Short Film), and Francesco Merola (representing his late father Mario Merola, beloved by the Italian community on the West Coast). Other honored guests include Sergio Castellitto (awarded on Monday night along with Ralph Fiennes and Conclave director Edward Berger), Oscar winners Mira Sorvino and Nick Vallelonga, and many other festival friends.

Julian Schnabel made his mark in cinema with Before Night Falls, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Director. He later directed The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, winning Best Director at Cannes and receiving another Academy Award nomination. His other films include Miral and At Eternity’s Gate about Van Gogh. His latest work, filmed mostly in Italy (Sicily, Rome, Florence, and Venice), features a star-studded cast including Gerard Butler (in two roles), Al Pacino, Jason Momoa, John Malkovich, Gal Gadot, Oscar Isaac, and Martin Scorsese, alongside Franco Nero, Fortunato Cerlino, Sabrina Impacciatore, Lorenzo Zurzolo, and many others. This special film is being sought after by both the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.
