LA, Italia Festival aims to promote Italian cinema abroad, thanks to the collaboration with the Mic, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and international collaboration; with the participation of Intesasanpaolo, Ilbe and the Italian Institute of Culture.

The classic Italian event promoted with the Ministry of Culture and Intesa Sanpaolo is to unfold March 3 through 9 at the Chinese Theater, showcasing the best of Italian entertainment on the eve of the Oscars, which this year include Garrone’s “I Captain” among its top five foreign contenders.

The most awaited appointment for Italian movies abroad enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism, with the participation of Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and the Italian Cultural Institute Los Angeles.

Italia will once again honor Eduardo De Filippo, who was appreciated by the legendary actor”, declared Tony Renis, the honorary president of the festival. “In a world inclined toward quickly consuming and forgetting”, continued the celebrated author of the song “Quando Quando Quando”, “we believe it is essential to increasingly support our great authors in the US as well, where we are proud to present the innovative director Edoardo De Angelis. Together with Picomedia, he has created a cinematic trilogy based on Eduardo’s most famous plays: the comedies ‘Natale in Casa Cupiello’ ‘Sabato, domenica e lunedì’ and ‘Non ti pago,’ all of them starring Sergio Castellitto.

De Angelis has enjoyed a significant year on the international scene, with the release of “Comandante” and the Netflix series “The Lying Life of Adults” by Elena Ferrante. To celebrate De Filippo, the Los Angeles, Italia stage will host the versatile artist Lina Sastri, who recently dedicated the acclaimed theater show “Eduardo mio” to her beloved “maestro.”

We are also pleased to highlight that Eduardo is the author of “Adelina,” the episode starring Sophia Loren which is part of “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,“ the film directed by Vittorio De Sica, which in 1965 earned the Oscar for Best International Feature Film.
